I'm just gonna make a comment to answer some questions to clear some things up! This was 6 years ago, Can't blame a 16 year old for missing the $1.39 menu at McDonalds. Hahahah, looking back some of these "cons" were ridiculous but nonetheless it's how I felt! I lived in Belize for about a year with my family before moving back home to Vancouver also with my family. About a year after coming home, my family (dad, mom, sister and brother) all moved back to Placencia and I stayed at home in Vancouver where I knew I should be staying with my family's blessing! I have since been back to Placencia once with my family in 2017 and once in 2019 on my own, things have changed so much, and the village isn't quite the same as it used to be. Though it is different now, if you have any questions, I would be happy to answer them via a comment below or you can reach out on my instagram @donnietejani where I'm likely to answer a lot quicker! I still have many friends living in the village that I'd be happy to connect you with or recommend things to do, areas to stay in (or avoid).

For a young person, I understand even though beautiful and natural, Belize can be very boring. Not many places to go to do different things and meet lots on new single people and friends.

If fast foods is all you count as satisfying both visibly and for consumption then you really are a plastic synthetic being . Im so glad there are NONE . They exploit , suck and kill all local personal community businesses . I like Auntie Sallies Food Spot , or Mikes Kitchen etc etc . Please dont come here if you are the type who prefers impersonal service , junk food and support the multi-nationals . Stay away . We like our communities as they are . All personal and good neighbours .

Appreciated your pros and cons videos, but they were both rather brief. Think you'd be interested in making a more in-depth video about, like an "everything you need to know before moving to Belize" kinda video? Becaue I'm considering moving there soon and I'd love to hear your opinions on things since we seem to be around the same age and come from similar countries (Vancouver & United states)

Placencia is a place like no other. Two weeks into my stay and im not going "home". Actually I am home. Thank you for the video it helped me decide to move here. One thing I would add to the list is that old retirees from wealthy countries bring their mindset with them and still compare themselves to each other and everyone else. Much like keeping up with the Jonses in downton abby. Today an older retired fellow insultingly asked me if could support myself here after learning like him i am trying to live here long term. I thought about saying nope my plan is to sleep on the beech and eat lizards. Instead I answered him with can you? He replies with IM RETIRED! SO i shoot back with SO AM I. Is there anything else about my life you would like to know or ridicule? He didnt answer because people were laughing at him or us by that point. Little did he know i get the same military pension that he does. This was just standing in line at an atm. The Belizean people on the other hand are some of the Greatest most down to earth people you can meet. Its a culture with all sorts of ethnicities and backgrounds. Locols are super kind to one another and outsiders as well.
